BEFORE2030 - A LIVABLE FUTURE For people, planet, and all life
CONSERVE ENERGY, INSULATION, SMART DESIGN, ETC.
I’ve already touched on this a little in, Champion renewable energy, but what else is there?
With self-reliant education, the ability to innovate becomes widespread, leading to better solutions and design. Knowledge of systems leads to better resource use, conservation, including the all-important water infrastructure. Sustainability is now the thread running through all industry.
What if our neighborhoods were so well re-designed, with citizen participation and revivified community involvement, that we didn’t feel the need to leave them, or go for a Sunday drive? Mass movement of people by the car or other means must be reduced. What are the design implications of this? We’re going to need designers: architects, city planners, engineers, pushing those pencils, oh, I mean, computer-design applications. Also recognizing, that this new opportunity is going to affect our grandchildren’s ability to enjoy a thriving life.
To reach our new world, we’re going to be very busy. To get there, short term, we may have to increase consumption and energy use, what an irony!
